Oooh have I got news for you!

But first – yes I like to tease :-) I have a FO and an almost FO and a slightly secret  FO that I can sort of talk about.

First up
U_shaped_vest
Back to school U shaped vest
from Fitted knits by Stephanie Japel

Knitted in a couple of spare balls of Sirdar Toddler Aran left over from my zip up cardi.

knitted in the round on 4.5mm aero needles – the armbands and neckband were done on 3.75mm circulars.

Modifications: I made the armsyches slightly  lower and deeper than the pattern  as I had read on the Ravelry forums that they were a bit tight.  I just need to pluck up courage to wear it to work now – it is a new style for me :-)

Lady Eleanor is finished and blocking – just needs the fringe once she is dry – photos then…

I finished another design this weekend, I have called it the Quatrefoil Shrug, it will be available for sale at The Unique Sheep shortly, I just need to get some decent photos in daylight and finish writing up the pattern and she is done.

Now for the real news! I have had some designs accepted for a forthcoming book! The book is the follow up to Sensual Knits and you could have knocked me down with a feather when I read the email  from the publishers :-) ( Actually  I whooped and hollered and  DH thought I had lost my mind – I hadn’t told him that I had submitted the designs in case nothing came of it.)

I’m off now to work on a new design for a shawl for the Unique Sheep – lots of lovely leafy patterns in a lovely fingering weight yarn – merino/tencel – yum!

My friend is knitting the U neck vest too – of course, you really will be able to wear it Back to School. However, my friend homeschools her kids and wondered what she could call it instead….maybe a Not-Back-to-School vest?
Congrats on being a published designer – very exciting!
